Kicking Off Summer at the Farm

Projects, Prep, StayWILD‘25, & More!

The first day of summer is officially here—and things are heating up here at the farm, in more ways than one. This season always brings a new kind of energy, and our WILD team is diving headfirst into all that summer has in store.

4th of July Sale -

We’re kicking things off with a bang—our Wilders 4th of July Sale is officially live! Stock up on 100%fullblood Wagyu and Berkshire pork with 15% off orders of $150 or more (some exclusions apply). Whether you're planning a backyard BBQ or just craving something WILD, this deal runs through Monday, July 7th—so don’t wait too long.

Preg Checks -

Summer also means it’s time for preg checks. Our bred fullblood Wagyu heifers for StayWILD’25 are heading through the chute this season. It’s a key step in building the lineup for our fall sale, and one that keeps us focused on long-term herd goals.

Row Crop Projects -

We’ve already planted this year’s corn acreage and dropped in warm-season annual forages across our pastures. Next up: silage harvest, which is projected to take place in early August, weather-dependent.

Hay Baling -

Even though the heavy rainfall we have received this spring and summer has allowed the grass to grow, it also makes it challenging to harvest.  It takes a couple of days of dry weather to get the moisture down to an optimal percentage. If the hay is bailed too wet we have issues with mold, excessive heat/fire, and spoilage.  We wrapped up a big round of hay baling earlier this spring, and we’ve got our eyes on another cut the first week of July. Like always, we’ll be watching the forecast and trying to time it just right.

Facility Projects -

Infrastructure improvements are a constant project around here. We’re expanding our Berkshire hog operation with a few new paddocks and an updated facility layout to support growth. On the cattle side, construction crews are staying busy with improvements across the farm—and we’ve got a dedicated crew working on fencing to open up even more pasture space.

Interns -

We’ve been so thankful for some extra hands on deck. Our two Agriculture Management Interns, Sophia and Jase, have jumped right in this season. From daily herd checks to pasture work and hands-on prep for StayWILD’25, they’ve been soaking up every opportunity to learn and contribute. We’re grateful for their work ethic and positive attitudes. To read more about them visit one of our previous blogs - https://www.wilderswagyu.com/news/meet-the-new-faces-at-the-farm-1

StayWILD’25 -

Everything we do this summer ties back to the bigger picture—and StayWILD‘25 is front and center. From dialing in data collection to getting our sale cattle in the best shape possible, we’re laying the groundwork now for what’s shaping up to be a standout lineup. This fall’s offering will include standout Donor females, bred fullblood Wagyu females, powerhouse Wagyu bulls, pregnancies, Wagyu embryos, and Wagyu semen.

It’s safe to say that summer at the farm is in full swing, and plenty is happening behind the scenes. From everyday work to big-picture projects, our team is staying busy with purpose—and keeping our eyes on what’s ahead. We’re looking forward to everything this season holds.
